We’re looking for an experienced Integration Consultant with a strong technical background in healthcare interoperability to join our growing team.

This is a hands-on technical role where you’ll design, configure, implement and support integration solutions across NHS and healthcare environments, working with standards including HL7, FHIR and IHE.

You’ll work directly with customers and internal teams to understand requirements, solve complex integration challenges and deliver reliable solutions that help healthcare organisations get more from their data and systems.

The Role:

As an Integration Consultant, you’ll act as the technical lead for allocated customer sites, working with both internal and external stakeholders to deliver high-quality integration solutions. You’ll scope new customer requirements and change requests, translating these into estimates, technical documentation and implementation plans.

Working with HL7, FHIR and other healthcare interoperability standards, you’ll design, configure and implement solutions in line with NHS standards and ReStart’s internal development practices. You’ll be involved throughout the delivery lifecycle from initial scoping and solution design through to testing, deployment, go-live and post-implementation support.

The role will suit someone who enjoys solving complex technical problems, working directly with customers and using technology to improve the way healthcare systems communicate.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the technical lead for allocated customer sites, liaising with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Scope new customer requirements and change requests, producing estimates, technical documentation and implementation plans.
  • Design, configure and implement HL7, FHIR and other interoperability solutions in line with NHS standards and internal coding practices.
  • Peer review code and scoping documentation, contributing to quality assurance across the team.
  • Support the testing and deployment of integration solutions, including go-live planning and post-implementation support.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve integration issues, escalating where appropriate.
  • Prepare and maintain comprehensive technical documentation for both customers and internal teams.
  • Ensure solutions adhere to data protection, information governance and security requirements and align with NHS policy.
  • Contribute to internal tooling, code libraries and process improvements.
  • Provide knowledge transfer to colleagues and customers as required.
  • Attend and contribute to project, team and customer meetings.
  • Complete training and maintain relevant certifications as part of your ongoing professional development.

Skills and Experience

We’re looking for someone with proven experience in an integration, technical consulting or interface development role, ideally within healthcare.

You’ll need:

  • A strong understanding of healthcare interoperability standards, including HL7 v2/v3, FHIR and IHE.
  • Hands-on experience with integration engines such as Rhapsody, Mirth Connect, Ensemble Health Connect, or similar.
  • Familiarity with NHS systems, workflows and national standards such as NHS Spine, GP Connect and SNOMED CT.
  • Experience delivering, testing and maintaining integration solutions.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify, diagnose and resolve complex technical issues.
  • Excellent communication skills and the confidence to build effective relationships with customers and stakeholders.
  • Experience producing clear, high-quality technical documentation.
  • The ability to organise your workload effectively across multiple projects or workstreams.
  • A proactive, collaborative approach and willingness to share knowledge across the wider team.
